In Portland we like coffee. This is a coffee place inside the Pioneer Square Mall, located in Downtown Portland, OR. And this is is the way that the photo is supposed to be. Most people dont know or cant tell, especially when holding the matted print. It's caused some confusion at portfolio sessions.
Critique appreciated. EDIT: so I woke up this morning and check my messages and I had hundreds of them Thank you to Achillies875 for the suggestion and bQw for the DD! Sorry if I dont comment you saying thanks for the fav, but really, thanks to everyone who's commenting and faving my photos. It's great to get some good feedback. lovely! From the thumbnail I thought it was a bottlecap or something on a table. Beautiful shot.

Well anyway, what I came to say: The figure on the roof of... what I assume to be a coffee kiosk? ... I wonder what it is. It kind of looks like it has curly hair, and it appears to be playing a wind instrument. That seems quite typical of a satyr (or faun, but since it apparently has human legs...). Is it supposed to be a satyr, though? Crits... Well I suppose I agree with ~pirate-soul, but really I don't have a lot to critisize. Top shots are cool? Hahaha. No, seriously though, I like the view. The people from the top look so... different, yet perfect. What I mean is, it seems like a good representation. Of what? Oh... not sure.. Just a secret peak at their everyday lives, I suppose. -- "Talking to you about relationships is like talking to a brick wall about moving." ~such a scamp Icon by *Dandy-Vectrum *peek
-- "Talking to you about relationships is like talking to a brick wall about moving." ~such a scamp Icon by *Dandy-Vectrum Do you mean by "this is the way it's supposed to be" that people in critique didn't know how it was supposed to be viewed as in horizontal or vertical orientation? If that is what you mean, I feel it's a good decision, it's very strong as a horizontal image.
And I have to disagree with what's been said about the cropping and including the chairs at the top-if the shot had been taken looking exactly straight down instead of at the slight angle it is actually at, whatever it is at the top would have bothered me and I would say the image would be better without it. But as it is at a slight angle, it works nicely as a sort of frame, or at least reference point to the size of the place you have shot and the fact that the little coffee place does have an end... otherwise without that little bit of border those tiles seem like they go on forever and ever. It also works nicely as a frame with whatever is in the bottom left corner--looks like a rail from up above where you were shooting, correct me if I'm wrong. Of course, to each his or her own, and that is just my opinion. And one question: is this digital or film? All in all, very well-done. It's a lovely and pleasing image that is not only fun to look at, but really draws the viewer in to look for the smaller details in the people and the kiosk. <3 -- <3 Love without rules. I was just there at that exact mall at that exact stand only a few weeks ago ^_^ I love their milk hot chocolate! The mexican one is yummy too!
We were there when the storm was at it's peak in Portland. It was funny trying to get out of the underground parking lot near Wild Oats because our chains couldn't get us up the ramp! -- "Truth is not determined by the number of people who believe it."
